Supporting Our Creatives

Supporting Caymanian artists across all creative disciplines is at the heart of the Foundation’s mission. In 2023, we expanded this commitment by increasing access to grants and development opportunities, launching our new residency and fellowship programmes, and expanding access to our facilities.

Through access to expertise, training and professional development, funding and grants, we are committed to supporting our arts community to help preserve our cultural identity and grow an even richer, more vibrant arts and culture scene.

Grants for the Arts

Our Grants for the Arts programme helps to support individuals and organisations with the development and production of creative projects.

Artists-in-Residence Programme

The Foundation’s Artist-in-Residence (AiR) programme provides artists and scholars with dedicated time, funds, and venue space in which to fully immerse themselves in their creative process, free from daily distractions.

Research Fellowships

We are currently developing a new Research Fellowship designed to support scholarly work focused on Caymanian heritage, culture, and identity.

The fellowship will provide academics, researchers, and cultural practitioners with opportunities to address topics that contribute to a deeper understanding of the history and culture of the Cayman Islands. Fellows will also have the opportunity to share their findings with the public to support a strengthened and shared identity.

National Arts and Culture Awards

The Foundation manages the annual National Arts and Culture Awards to recognise highest artistic and creative achievements in the Cayman Islands. These prestigious awards honour individuals and groups who demonstrate consistent, active engagement in developing, preserving and celebrating Caymanian culture and heritage.

Hosted by the Foundation at the Harquail Theatre, the Awards programme is jointly presented by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Heritage & Culture and the leading cultural organisations in the Cayman Islands including the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, the Cayman Islands National Museum, the National Trust for the Cayman Islands, the University College of the Cayman Islands, the Cayman Music and Entertainment Association, and a revolving representative from the creative sector. Representatives from each organisation make up the nomination review committee.
