Gimistory – Cayman Islands International Storytelling Festival

The Foundation’s long-running Gimistory festival celebrates the ancient art of storytelling and revitalises a form of community entertainment that is part of Cayman’s heritage.

About

Whether light-hearted or profound, the stories share traditional wisdom, stimulate the imagination and shed new light on cultural mores. Each year, renowned international and local tellers share the stage with the next generation. The festival travels across the Cayman Islands to all six districts in late November, with evening shows at community parks and beaches. These family-friendly events are free and open to all.

As part of the Foundation’s commitment to training and development, the festival is supported by a busy schedule of workshops and masterclasses in storytelling, writing and performance. Tellers also visit local primary and secondary schools throughout the week to share their voices and encourage students to find their own voices on stage. To schedule a school visit, please email theatremgt@artscayman.org and to stay up to date with our Gimistory events, join our mailing list.
