The choir’s first public performance was at George Town Town Hall on 23 June 1977, for the celebration of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, and it has performed annually ever since. Two of the original members of that choir from 1977, Zeta May Bodden and Merrell McCann, have been ever-present throughout. In 2002, the Cayman National Orchestra was founded by Sue Horrocks, BEM, the Choir’s long-running Artistic and Musical Director.
CNCO is currently led by a Board of Directors, Director of Music for the Orchestra Alina Makhina, and Director of Music for the Choir Melody Gifford. They are a community choir and orchestra, welcoming singers and musicians of all ages and nationalities, with a wide range of experience. For more information about joining CNCO, click here.
