UCCI has an active performing arts program, established in 2010 by Dr. MoniKa Lawrence. The programme fosters the talents of students in dance, instrumental, steelpan, and choir and aims to give students opportunities to grow artistically, enhance their creative imagination, interact with their peers and communities, build character, and afford them opportunities to travel and represent the University and The Cayman Islands. As such, there exists a core of dancers who attend the University but are also members of other dance companies/groups in Cayman.

The CNCF grant assisted the group to attend Jamaica Dance Umbrella in March of this year. Jamaica Dance Umbrella (JDU) is the Caribbean’s premier dance conference held at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus in Kingston, Jamaica. The festival provides workshops for artistic and technical growth as well as performance opportunities through the three show nights featured. UCCI shared the stage and represented the Cayman Islands with other professional and student dance companies from across the region.
